Course Open - Summer greens in play but extensive tining tee to green has taken place to improve conditions after recent heavy rain. (updated 30 January at 18:15)
Course Summary

Located in a mature part of the Leverhulme Estate at the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, Bromborough is renowned as a hidden gem of a Championship Golf Course; "Wirral’s Parkland Jewel®". For over 100 years golfers have been tackling the distinctive 18 holes that play between 6300 and 6600 yards depending on tees used. The quality of the course can be evidenced by its selection to host the English Amateur Matchplay Championship in 2005, English Men’s Seniors Championship 2003, Cheshire Matchplay 2010, Cheshire Strokeplay Championship 2017 and Cheshire Seniors Championship in 2018.  We are also proud to be the home of European Tour star, Paul Waring, winner of the Nordea Masters in 2018.

The course is notable for its many species of trees, copses and ponds that all add to the visual appeal. USGA standard greens and the year round equable climate provide good playing conditions 12 months of the year with temporary greens very rarely in use.

The holes have been carefully fashioned utilising the natural contours of the land that are gently undulating rather than excessively hilly, with the holes around the turn providing a particularly good test of golf.

Testimonials:

You shouldn’t just take our word for it – this is what some of our visitors have said about their Bromborough experience:-

With perfect weather and a magnificently presented and challenging course Bromborough provided a great stage for an elite field for the 2 day Cheshire Seniors' Championship. It culminated in a tense and exciting finish as Martyn Grimley triumphed by 1 shot and we thank Bromborough for their excellent organisation and warm welcome both on and off their terrific course.

Chris Moore, President Cheshire Union, July 2018

"I grew up a few hundred yards from Bromborough and have played golf on and off for many years...so why have I never played this wonderful course before? Sited on the Wirral within 20 minutes of great Championship courses, Bromborough would make a great addition to any golfers itinerary.

The layout is interesting and allows members to play different combinations of holes should they wish to. For a parkland course on the relatively flat Wirral I was surprised that there were so many changes in level and terrain making some good holes excellent.

Tees were flat and the greens were receptive, quick and rolled perfectly. Standout Holes are 7 which is a great par 5 with sweeping dog leg and has a look of Formby with tall pines running along the right side. 9 is another great hole...just don't go too long off the tee and 10 is a classic par 3 over a deep ravine.

We had a great day and value is brilliant at this time of the season. Get there and be impressed.

"We brought 29 golfers with us on the day and having visited many courses in the area, I must congratulate you on the superb set up you have. Everyone one of our golfers expressed how good the course was and in particular the greens, the clubhouse and the reception from all of Geoff's team was professional and very welcoming. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future."

"I have been visiting Bromborough for over 40 years and it is in better condition now than I have ever seen it. We have had a wonderful day's golf."

John Gallaway
"What a lovely parkland course with enough challenges for most club golfers. The course condition was excellent and the greens ran true so make sure you have read them correctly. Best hole is the 9th which has real character even though I messed it up. If you don't get your tee shot right you will struggle to score. Overall I enjoyed playing a course in great condition that had an open aspect but was deceptively challenging."

Clwyd & Borders Alliance
"I thought the club coped very well with our large numbers, over 180 golfers, and the course appeared to be recovering well from the atrocious conditions this winter."
